Job Title: Accounts Assistant

About the Role

We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our growing team at a dynamic IT services provider. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys working with financial data, and wants to contribute to both day-to-day accounting processes and the overall success of the business. The Accounts Assistant will manage financial operations, including billing, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. The role requires a deep understanding of subscription-based revenue models, financial compliance, and cloud solutions partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations
- Manage billing and invoicing for subscription-based services (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Zoho).
- Track subscription renewals, upgrades, and usage-based billing to ensure accurate client invoicing.
- Reconcile revenue streams from multiple sources and payment platforms.
- Accounts Receivable – Includes updating the CRM, calling/emailing for debt collection
- Petty cash management
Accounts Management
- Follow up on outstanding renewal changes and maintain positive client relationships.
- Work closely with the sales and account management teams to ensure accurate billing information.
Revenue Recognition & Compliance
- Apply proper revenue recognition principles for subscription-based services.
- Ensure financial practices comply with local accounting standards and tax regulations.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Transaction posting/Bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Analyze subscription trends and profitability by product (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Zoho).
- Provide insights into revenue performance and client profitability.
Collaboration with Partners
- Work with technology partners (Microsoft, Google, Zoho) to reconcile rebates, incentives, payment allocations and commission structures.
- Monitor and report on partner program compliance and rebate opportunities.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- File VAT
- Post withholding payments done to KRA by clients.
- Tax planning
Process Improvement
- Streamline financial workflows and enhance reporting capabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (Should have completed at least one level)
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within a tech or subscription-based business
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books).
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-Motivated and self-managed person who can keep track of many reminders.
